Research associates are expected to pursue their own research which should match the theme of current research. This scholarship will be awarded by an academic advisory board of the School of History Frias. Scholarship for Hispanic Successful applicants are offered salaries depending on their qualifications. The Scholarship for Hispanic is valid for a maximum of 3 years for a doctorate (of MPhil) [subject to the satisfactory progress] and is open to international applicants only. UK / EU applicants are not eligible. The grant will be £ 15.000 to provide for the cost of international tuition over 3 years.

PhD Scholarships for Hispanic in Economics,Italy

The Scholarships for Hispanic program, taught entirely in English, provides an excellent training for study and research in the various fields of economics. It has a long and consolidated tradition of post-graduate teaching and research in both theoretical and applied economics. Since its inception, more than one hundred students have successfully completed the PhD Scholarships for Hispanic program, and many of them are working in leading academic and non-academic, prestigious institutions like the Federal Reserve, the European Commission, the United Nations, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England and the Bank of Italy.

The first year of the PhD Scholarships for Hispanic program is devoted mainly to advanced course work in Mathematics for economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics and a considerable number of frontier state-of-the-art research topics. Full time research is pursued over the following two (or exceptionally three) years, during which each student must write his or her thesis. Students Scholarships for Hispanic are encouraged and financially supported to carry out part of their studies at leading foreign universities in order to allow them to exchange and compare ideas on a broader scale.

It consists of two stages, a pre-application and an official application. The pre-application is recommended but not necessary while the official application is.

PhD position Scholarship for Hispanic in Spatial Economics and Transport Economics

Job description

Agglomeration economies are expected to increase the benefits of investments in transport improvements. However, the effects of transport on agglomeration are difficult to ascertain. These effects may differ strongly between locations. The research will start with a literature study which will include both theoretical and empirical literature. Next, models will be built to investigate the determining factors of agglomeration benefits, including location factors. Finally, recommendations will be made about the way agglomeration benefits can be included in cost-benefit analysis.

The research will be linked to the work of the Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis (KiM), an institute within the Ministry of Infrastructure. Therefore, candidates should be at KiM in the Hague about one day per week, to disseminate research results and to participate in KiM projects.

The department is expecting to have more vacancies in the field of spatial, transport and environmental economics in the near future, so candidates with a broader interest in the field are also welcome to send their applications.

Requirements

Candidates are expected to have an excellent university MSc degree in economics or a comparable field, and to have a strong interest in analytical and numerical modeling. Department of Spatial Economics

The Department of Spatial Economics of the VU University Amsterdam is engaged in many economic problems in which space, transport and environment play prominent roles. The 60 staff members are involved in both fundamental research as well as in national and international commissioned research. The aim of its research programme is to analyse the contribution of the various forces to spatial dynamics and network development from a microeconomic perspective, where also inspiration is sought from neighbouring disciplines such as traffic engineering, geography and psychology. Ph.D. position in Hydrology from Earth an Life Institute, Belgium

The Agricultural Engineering research group of the Earth and Life Institute is offering a PhD fellowship for a period of up to 4 years to work on the refinement of surface flow modelling at the subgrid scale of distributed hydrological models.

Research project summary
Subgrid modelling of surface hydrological flow in physically-based,
spatially-distributed models is currently based on the use of effective parameters which cannot properly capture the subgrid connectivity of surface runoff. A promising connectivity function – the Relative Surface Contribution function (RSC) (Antoine et al., 2009) - has been recently developed and tested at the 1 m² scale, which improves the modelling of subgrid runoff generation.

This project seeks to pursue the integration of the subgrid connectivity function in spatially distributed hydrological models and to test the scale-dependency of the RSC function and its time-rate of change for contrasted initial conditions. This will involve a combination of field/lab and numerical experiments.

The Global Film Initiative Production Grants 2010, scholarship for hispanic

In its continuing effort to promote original filmmaking by individuals from around the world, The Global Film Initiative is pleased to announce the Summer 2010 cycle of its feature-film Production Grants program. Applications will be accepted from April 30, 2010 to July 15, 2010, and decisions will be announced in September 2010.

Global Film Initiative production grants are awarded twice a year, in winter and summer, to filmmakers whose work exhibits artistic excellence, authentic self-representation and accomplished storytelling. The granting program furthers the Initiative's mission of contributing to the development of local film industries while offering audiences a variety of cultural perspectives on daily life around the world. Monies received through the Initiative's granting program are used to support completion of film production, and to subsidize post-production costs, such as laboratory and sound mixing fees and access to modern editing systems.

This year, the Global Film Initiative will award production grants of up to $10,000 each to select applicants during its Summer granting cycle. These funds are made available following the Initiative's evaluation of an applicant's completed screenplay and early film-footage, and may include a pre-sale option for exclusive U.S. distribution of an applicant's film by the Initiative. Individuals may submit more than one film for consideration per granting cycle but please note that only applications from qualifying countries or regions will be considered and that production grants are not available for documentary or short films.*
