MSc Studentship: Research on System Closure 2011-12

Scholarship for Hispanic The purpose of the closure system in any manufacturing process is to have an independent operation in which valuable resources are re-used and maximized, while the discharges and emissions are minimized. Concepts such as integrating many features that are attractive. From an economic perspective, the costs associated with raw material and waste flow decreases. From the environmental standpoint, the impact of manufacturing facilities around it decreases. However, from the point of view of operations and engineering, the closure means the complexity of the system significantly increases and the challenge-technology. Centre at UKZN is setting up research facilities in this topic.

Postdoctoral Position Scholarship for Hispanic in Social Science


The Scholarship for Hispanic role of this social science post doctoral researcher is to take part in a collaborative empirical investigation of the project in action and the issues at stake, such as changes in trust and the accountabilities in the electoral processes, the genealogy of democracy and technology and, the organizational changes related to digitization in municipalities. The Scholarship for Hispanic aim is to analyze and assess social, political and cultural consequences of the technology and to make qualified inputs to the design process and assessment of the technology.

Scholarship for Hispanic Specifically, the post doctoral researcher will be expected to do ethnographic fieldwork in one of the Danish Municipalities with special focus on the election processes, including the current ritual and organization of the election and the wider organizational, cultural and democratic context in which the electoral process is embedded.

Postdoctoral Scholarship for Hispanic candidates should have a Ph.D. in Social Science, an established research record, and experience with doing qualitative research in one or more of the following fields:

Science and technology studies (STS)
democracy and science
electronic voting systems (of primary importance)
democratic governance
IT-governance
genealogy of democracy and technology
political technologies
public understanding of science
trust in information

Postdoctoral Research Fellowships Scholarship for Hispanic University of Leeds


The Department of Italian invites applications for three Postdoctoral Research Fellowships Scholarship for Hispanic within a project funded by the European Research Council.
The project, whose Principal Investigator is Professor Brian Richardson, will investigate how oral culture in early modern Italy related to written culture and how far it was independent of writing. It Scholarship for Hispanic will focus on four areas: social performance, politics, religion, and linguistic usage. Research will encompass spaces such as courts, council chambers, churches, academies, towns, the countryside, and households; men and women of all social classes; and contexts including ceremonial and ritual events, oratory, public and private performance, and scripted and improvised entertainments. It will also study the cultural functions of the exceptionally wide spectrum of languages used throughout the peninsula.
You will carry out research on one of the following areas, which will be allocated by the Principal Investigator after consultation:

The Scholarship for Hispanic performance of literary texts in non-elite culture, by professional performers and others
The preaching of orthodox and reformed religious thought
The functions and status of the varieties of language used in Italian oral culture

You will be expected to have obtained or expect to shortly obtain a PhD with specialisation in an aspect of Italian Studies, and have experience of studying Renaissance/early modern Italian culture and/or history.

PhD Scholarships for Hispanic in Economics,Italy


The Scholarships for Hispanic program, taught entirely in English, provides an excellent training for study and research in the various fields of economics. It has a long and consolidated tradition of post-graduate teaching and research in both theoretical and applied economics. Since its inception, more than one hundred students have successfully completed the PhD Scholarships for Hispanic program, and many of them are working in leading academic and non-academic, prestigious institutions like the Federal Reserve, the European Commission, the United Nations, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England and the Bank of Italy.

The first year of the PhD Scholarships for Hispanic program is devoted mainly to advanced course work in Mathematics for economics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics and a considerable number of frontier state-of-the-art research topics. Full time research is pursued over the following two (or exceptionally three) years, during which each student must write his or her thesis. Students Scholarships for Hispanic are encouraged and financially supported to carry out part of their studies at leading foreign universities in order to allow them to exchange and compare ideas on a broader scale.

PhD position Scholarship for Hispanic in Spatial Economics and Transport Economics

Job description

Agglomeration economies are expected to increase the benefits of investments in transport improvements. However, the effects of transport on agglomeration are difficult to ascertain. These effects may differ strongly between locations. The research will start with a literature study which will include both theoretical and empirical literature. Next, models will be built to investigate the determining factors of agglomeration benefits, including location factors. Finally, recommendations will be made about the way agglomeration benefits can be included in cost-benefit analysis.

The research will be linked to the work of the Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis (KiM), an institute within the Ministry of Infrastructure. Therefore, candidates should be at KiM in the Hague about one day per week, to disseminate research results and to participate in KiM projects.

The department is expecting to have more vacancies in the field of spatial, transport and environmental economics in the near future, so candidates with a broader interest in the field are also welcome to send their applications.

Requirements

Candidates are expected to have an excellent university MSc degree in economics or a comparable field, and to have a strong interest in analytical and numerical modeling. Department of Spatial Economics

The Department of Spatial Economics of the VU University Amsterdam is engaged in many economic problems in which space, transport and environment play prominent roles. The aim of its research programme is to analyse the contribution of the various forces to spatial dynamics and network development from a microeconomic perspective, where also inspiration is sought from neighbouring disciplines such as traffic engineering, geography and psychology. The Faculty of Engineering & IT of the University of Sydney, Australia, invites applications for a PhD position beginning in August 2011. The purpose of the project is to explore the interactions of the atmospheric boundary layer in complex terrains (topography and surface heterogeneity) with wind turbines. The successful candidate will carry out experimental studies (using stereo-PIV, tomo-PIV and hot-wire anemometry) in the 25-m long Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel of the School of Civil Engineering. The successful applicant will join a team that aims to develop and validate turbulence models that will be used to predict and study the effects o f complex atmospheric boundary layers on wind turbine wakes.
Applicants should have a Master in Engineering or Physics (or equivalent) and experience in at least one of the following areas: Wind Tunnel Testing, PIV, Atmospheric Boundary Layer, or, Wind Turbine Aerodynamics.The scholarship stipend is valued at $25,000 per annum (tax exempt) for up to three years. A tuition fee scholarship of up to A$ 30,000 per annum is also being offered if tuition fees are payable.
